No! Consistency is about finding a balance where you can maintain healthy habits over the long term without feeling overwhelmed or frustrated.
I, for example, started with small changes. I started with simple things, like drink more water, because believe me, it has already made a huge difference.
It wasn't about drinking 3 liters at once, but rather being consistent in maintaining this practice in my daily life.
The Big Takeaway: Realistic Planning
The key word here is realism. Have you ever tried to follow a crazy diet just because you saw someone on Instagram saying they did the “miracle” diet and got quick results? I’ve fallen for it too. Do you know what happened? I didn’t even last two weeks.
When you start something too radical, your body and mind will react. And at some point, you will feel like you are no longer in control. That's when I realized: realistic planning is key.
I started creating small but lasting habits that I knew I could stick to. This included short workouts, but efficient, and healthy foods, without going hungry.
Here’s the trick: You don’t have to cut everything at once. Make adjustments that you can stick with, not ones you know you’ll abandon at the first temptation.
Strategies to Avoid Dying of Boredom (or Hunger!)
Ok, so what works in practice? I've put together three strategies that I still use today and that will help you transform your body with consistency.
1. Interval Training: Simple, Fast and Efficient
When you're short on time (I know life is hectic), high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is your best friend. I started with 15 minutes, and the results were incredible. The best part: it doesn't matter how intense the training is, what matters is doing it regularly.
Start with something simple, like 30 seconds of intense exercise followed by 30 seconds rest. The good thing about this workout is that, in addition to burning calories, you continue burning them even after the workout. Amazing, right?
2. Conscious Eating: Lighter, Without Suffering
Eating healthy doesn't have to be a struggle. I know, I've been through a phase where I thought that eating well was synonymous with being boring, tasteless and without pleasure. But in reality, conscious eating It's all about knowing what you're putting on your plate and how it's going to impact your body.
Instead of trying to cut out everything you enjoy, how about starting with simple substitutions? Swap soda for lemon water, or white bread for whole wheat bread. Small changes, again, that you can sustain for longer.
3. Monitor Your Progress, But Without Getting Nervous
This may seem obvious, but there's a catch: monitoring your progress is important, but it doesn't have to be obsessive. The mirror, the scale, even the way your clothes fit: these are signs that consistency is paying off.
But here's the catch: don't torture yourself If the results don't appear overnight. I found myself frustrated many times, thinking that I was doing everything wrong. The truth is that weight loss is a slower process, and the key to success is being patient.
